The submissions show that the offshore wind sector is working hard to realise the scale-up that lies ahead. The jury, consisting of Simon Watson of TU Delft (chairman), Suzanne van de Beek of Vattenfall and Jakob Bergvelt of Green Giraffe, judged the submissions on innovative strength, market maturity, feasibility and on their relevance to the energy transition in the North Sea. The Offshore Wind Innovators Awards is an initiative of the Offshore Wind Innovators network, a network for innovative parties that is a part of TKI Offshore Energy.
The three nominees for the most innovative party in 2022 are:
FLASC
FLASC has developed an innovative form of energy storage that can be directly integrated into a floating offshore platform. Energy is stored offshore using a hydropneumatic fluid piston driven by a reversible pump turbine.
TechBinder
TechBinder improves human-machine interaction by using and combining new technologies. TechBinder promotes efficiency, optimisation and sustainability by improving the way people and machines work together.
Elestor
Elestors is groundbreaking energy storage technology. Based on the flow battery principle, their battery stores electricity at a fraction of the cost of traditional batteries, safely and with a long lifespan.
The winner will be announced after the three nominees have pitched their innovation at the Q-Meeting on January 25, where all stakeholders from the offshore wind sector will be present.
