The Topconsortium voor Kennis en Innovatie Energie & Industrie in collaboration with its partners, the Netherlands aims to achieve a sustainable and inclusive industry that operates within the boundaries of climate and the environment. With this mission, the country sets the ambition of a thriving, circular, and globally leading competitive industry with near-zero greenhouse gas emissions.
By utilizing residual streams, waste gases, CO2 from the air, and biomass, raw materials are created for industries such as chemistry and fuel for aviation or maritime transport. Factories use electricity, geothermal energy, green gas, and hydrogen to meet their energy needs.
Additionally, the industry helps balance fluctuations in electricity production from solar and wind parks. It harnesses waste heat in its own processes or for heating residential areas and greenhouses. Advanced digitalization transforms production methods and value chains, resulting in sustainable products derived from sustainable processes.
Within Mission C, three Meerjarige Missiegedreven Innovatieprogramma’s have been formulated:
- MMIP 6: Sluiting van Industriële ketens (pdf)
- MMIP 7: Een 100% CO2-vrij industrieel warmtesysteem (pdf)
- MMIP 8: Maximale elektrificatie en radicaal vernieuwde processen (pdf)
In addition, the increase in sustainable electricity generation has an impact on the electrification of the industry. Furthermore, developments in the industry have an influence on other sectors, such as the built environment and mobility.
