In the report, it is further concluded that these and other drawbacks, such as the very large number of required small turbines and the relatively low Annual Energy Production (AEP) even with all 18,154 turbines applied throughout the country, discourage effective realization of this potential in the Netherlands. Nevertheless, integration of wind energy systems into the built environment can be considered for individual projects, given the low Levelized Cost of Energy (LCoE), albeit with consideration of the challenges and issues mentioned in the report. It is expected that tailored solutions will need to be provided based on local circumstances, and it is unlikely that a standard product can be developed that can be applied in most cases.
Based on the above, we have decided not to include the theme of Urban Wind Energy in the innovation program of the TKI Urban Energy.
